此首《Southern Accents / 南方口音》美歌手Tom Petty所，收於其1985的同名中，唯未另行曲。之後Petty接受表示，此曲是他自得最好的作品之一。
Tom Petty出身於佛里州的恩斯耳( Gainesville)，然就是有口音的南方人。後至加州展，但南方他的影，在他的歌中常可。1988，Tom Petty加由一大咖像是前披合唱的George Harrison，Bob Dylan、Roy Orbison及ELO的Jeff Lynne所成的超Traveling Wilburys，Petty在流行的地位也跟著水船高，惜因Orbison的逝，超只出了就解散了。

1996，Tom Petty了22年的妻子婚，由於心理痛苦而染上毒，1999，曾由的女友助至康中心戒毒。Petty本身有肺、膝部，常需服用止痛及含有片等物。2017，Petty在家中被了呼吸及心跳，送使用生系而仍不治，死因「意外服量」，享66。
今年 (2024) 年初，一些歌星好友Tom Petty作了一《Petty Country：A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty》向他致敬，其中就由Dolly Parton翻唱此首《Southern Accents》，然，更多了一些「村」味。
