此曲The Kingston Trio ( 京士三重唱 ) 的John Stewart (1961~1967)於前所，但曾被合唱We Five及Spanky and Our Gang打了回票。後在加某聚遇到The Monkees( ) 的作人邀歌，因而此曲首由The Monkees唱行，曲於1967年底上了告示牌排行榜的第1名，是The Monkees的第3首也是他最後一首的冠曲。
：The Monkees是因的英The Beatles而成立的美，有想「分庭抗」之意，名也仿The Beatles ( 原甲Beetle更改了一字母 )，The Monkees也由猴子Monkey改成，故也有之「猴子」或另「童」。

此曲基本上是在述年的理想到成人後的之的比，解到生命的束和失望的是一普遍的，使首歌成人性的深刻反映。其始唱片公司不喜首歌，且持要其中一句歌「Now you know how funky I can be」中的Funky改happy，因Funky有「霉臭的」的意思，然者意思完全倒，Stewart意到首歌可能大受迎，最後度是化。2006，Stewart表示：《Daydream Believer》的收益，……我活了多年( Kept me alive for all these years )。
翻唱此曲的除了歌的John Steward外，有加拿大女歌手Anne Murray，其版本在1979或得告示牌「代成人」第1名 (「100」排行榜第12名 )，以下另灰狼Lobo的版本，大家分享。
