1969年，Paul Saimon在巴黎的一院表演，乎每晚都到同台的南美Los Incas演奏一首名《Paso Del Condor》的曲子，得非常好，Los Incas的告Saimon，只是安地斯一首的曲子。之後，Saimon此曲填上歌，成此首《El Condor Pasa ( If I Could )》，收於其1970的〈Bridge Over Troubled Water〉中。

其首曲子是秘作曲家Daniel Robles於1913所作，在1933旅美登了著作。所以Robles的子此曲提出法律，Paul Saimon也只能依法Daniel Robles列名作曲者，返相的版。

可言，原曲由「Simon & Garfunkel」二重唱的填翻唱，才得以名於世。「Simon & Garfunkel」的版本在美告示牌只得了18名，但在包含澳洲、比利、荷、西德和西班牙、瑞士，均是榜首的冠曲。
