成立於1977的英Dire Straits ( 峻海 )，之所以取此名，是因之前只是在地的酒吧和咖啡作些小型演出，收入只勉持支和供泡吧。故改名「Dire Straits」，以自嘲的「困窘」。( Dire Straits亦有困境之意 )

1980年Dire Straits以一首《Sultans of Swing》得葛美提名，未得，但大振。1985行的第五《Brothers in Arms》，更是推上了峰，除在英美排行榜各10和9的冠，全球的唱片售量更3000。而中的首《Walk Of Life》，然在美排行榜只得第7名，是Dire Straits在英售成最佳的曲。

首歌描述的是一位街人在行人地下道中唱歌。《Walk Of Life》有被「漫步人生」，也有作「人生百」或是「生活之路」、「生命之旅」。Whatever，大概就是位街人的「走唱人生」吧！
