Job Title: Network Operation Engineer
Location: Shanghai, China
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a local-time day shift Network Operations Engineer, you will potentially be
working both weekdays and weekends, and be responsible for monitoring and sup
port of a huge-scale multi-data center network as well as global corporate net
work with hundreds of locations. Our day shift will be 9:00am-9:00pm (Beijing
Time) with some variability based on US Daylight Savings Time or occasional sp
ot coverage for US-based shifts. On average, 50% of the days will be the worki
ng day, while the other 50% of the days will be the off shift days. An overtim
e pay package will be provided for the extra working hours. For those who woul
d like to work hard play hard, it is a nice working model.
A major component of the job will be monitoring and maintaining network and ne
twork security equipment, WAN circuit troubleshooting, and handling proactive
and reactive outages directly and by working with our vendors. Additionally, y
ou will be resolving network service and firewall access requests along with t
roubleshooting performance issues with other internal groups. Other job respon
sibilities include managing network capacity, deploying equipment, implementin
g process improvements, administering network management systems or developing
and maintaining network automation tools, and ensuring compliance with Inform
ation Security standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Good communication and documentation skills in English.
2. CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent work experience.
3. "Security-first" mindset.
4. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4, packet captures, and packet/flow analys
is.
5. Knowledge of IPv6, Multicast, Unix/FreeBSD/Linux.
6. Able to handle 12hr shifts and the pros/cons/flexibility of NOC shift-type
work and shifting schedule from time to time.
7. Shifts will likely overlap one or both days out of the weekend.
PREFERRED SKILLS
1. Familiarity with network security equipment such as modern stateful or application inspection firewalls and IDS/IPS is a plus.
2. Experience with BGP or OSPF routing is a plus.
3. Sripting or programming skills in C/C++/Perl/Python is a big plus.
